Scavenger hunt
Our assignment for the Graveyard Rabbit carnival is a scavenger hunt at the cemetery: We have to find as many items as we can from the list below.
- Cross
- Heart
- Fraternal symbol
- Monument
- Flower
- Hand
- Angel
- Bird
- Tree
- Star
- Obelisk
- Four-legged animal
- Photo
- Military gravestone
- Mausoleum
Most of the items were easy (many featured on this blog before), but a few proved hard or impossible. Star and tree were hard to find, but I did manage to find them. I could not find a proper obelisk, I include a pillar instead. And I could not find a fraternity symbol. Strange, because worldwide fraternities are also active in Utrecht and Het Gooi, but maybe members don't add the symbols to their graves here.
Many graves feature multiple elements from the list. The grave I selected for the hands, for example, also has a cross and an angel. And the headstone with a bird is heart-shaped.
On the top row, left to right, cross, heart, monument and flower. On the second row hand, angel, bird, tree, and star. On the bottom row pillar (replaces the obelisk), animal, photo, military, and mausoleum. Click images to enlarge.

Lovely selections. My favorite photo is of the angel at St. Barbara Cemetery.
