Tombstone Tuesday: People of the past
In The Netherlands (and many other places in Europe) old graves are removed to make room for new ones. Old headstones and other grave decorations are generally destroyed, but in the cemetery of Oud-Zuilen the best ones are kept: Along the edge of the cemetery is a line of old headstones taken from removed graves.
The green sign in the middle reads:
"Dit zijn enkele grafstenen van geruimde graven als herinnering aan mensen van voorbij."
(Translation: These are some tombstones from removed graves as a memory of people of the past.)
